Warning: May Be Too Graphic for Some!

This morning Bella had left us a wonderful stinky surprise when we woke up! A HUGE pile of diarrhea! I took her out right before I was to leave for work (I didn't want her having diarrhea all over the apartment) and her she had bloody diarrhea! So, of course I start freaking out!
I immediately called the vet and they had an opening so I ran her to the
vet really quick and had to leave her so I could go to work and because they needed to do a stool test. The nurse told me that the vet would call me once he had looked at her.
So I had to go to work and worry about her all morning!! Finally the vet called me around 12:15! The first thing he said was, "Bella is very sick!" Scared me to death!!!!
We talked on the phone for almost 30 minutes and he said Bella had either ate something non-eatable (i.e., rock, squirrel, etc) or she licked/ate something with bacteria (i.e. water,
bird poop, etc). He thinks that she licked some water or bird poop and has gotten some bad bacteria from it... gastro-bacteria? (he used big words! I don't know the exact name of it!) and it is making her very sick.
He said that he tested her stool and that she has the most amount of blood in her stool as possible and had a fever of 105!! He thinks that she will be OK but he wanted her to come back first thing in the morning. He is going to put her on antibiotic through an IV and will do that
all day tomorrow too. He is letting us take her home over night but she can't have anything to eat or drink. I really wanted to bring her home though- so he said he thought that it would be OK.
I was crying on the phone- I was so worried about her! I just wanted to pick her up and hold her! This is my child we're talking about!! Obviously, Matt and I are extremely upset and worried about this. I had to go back to work was literally hardly able to work- I just keep crying!!
Around 2, Matt called Dr. Beam to see if Bella was doing any better and talk to him himself! The vet said that her fever is down to 102 (dogs temp is usually 101). So, that is very good. He said that he tried to do an X-ray to see if she had swallowed anything whole and he couldn't do it because she was squirming everywhere! He said he couldn't get her to lay down still!! Thankfully her behavior hasn't changed!
He told Matt that she has gastro-bacteria- it affects dogs basically like it would food poisoning to humans. Dr. Beam was in much higher spirits and said that he expected her to be almost 100% by this weekend. He said he felt totally comfortable with us taking her home tonight and bringing her back in the morning.
She also won't sit still to get an IV- so he's just giving her shots of antibiotics every few minutes. We are picking her up tonight!!! I'm so excited! Needless to say we won't be leaving the apartment all weekend! We'll be taking care of our poor baby!!
P.S. Sorry that we're so obsessed with our dogs... it'll only get worse with kids! Haha

Oh no! That's awful. I'm sorry for you guys and bella! I thought I was a mess when ella had three huge tangles in her hair that took me two hours to get out. We have been told that if she gets tangles that they cannot get out they have to shave her.
